Strengthen Churches - Extend the Kingdom

A Helping Hand

A group of boy scouts were hiking in the woods when they discovered an abandoned section of railroad track.  Each of the boys tried to walk the rails but, one by one, they each lost his balance and fell off.

Two boys began to whisper.  They offered to bet they could walk the entire length of the track without falling off.  Of course, all of the boys challenged them to make good their boast.  The two jumped on the rails, one on each rail.  Then they held out their hand to each other.  Each of the two boys helped balance the other as they walked the entire length of the track.

The “life-lesson” is clear.  We really do need each other.  Living a Christian life is impossible in our own strength.  We need God’s help and we need the help of other people who are walking the same path.

When we try to “go it alone” we are simply a point – a single spot.  When we reach out for the help of other people we form a straight line.  But when we reach out to God for help and we reach for others (who are also reaching out to God) we form a triangle – the strongest geometric shape.

Yes, we really do need each other.
